Every commercial water service in Milwaukee has at least one place where the potable supply touches something it shouldn't — a janitor's mop sink with a hose hooked to a chemical jug, a dental vacuum that pulls solids into a saliva ejector, a soda-machine carbonator that lets CO₂ press a copper line back into citric acid, a boiler feed dosed with glycol, a fire-line riser parked under positive pressure. A backflow prevention assembly is the mechanical promise that the city's water moves one way only. The state of Wisconsin requires that promise be inspected, in person, once a year, by a certified tester who carries a calibrated gauge, signs a test report, and submits it to the water purveyor before the deadline.¹

That paperwork is what we do. Walker's Point Cross-Connection Co. is a seven-person crew on the second floor of an 1898 Cream-City-brick warehouse on West Florida Street, four blocks from the Milwaukee River and one block from the historic Walker's Point rail siding. We carry an ASSE 5110 backflow-tester credential, an ASSE 5130 repair-technician credential, and an ASSE 5150 trainer credential between us, plus a WI DSPS Master Plumber license that lets us replace a broken assembly the same hour we condemn it. We work on commercial premises only: food service, medical, dental, veterinary, irrigation-with-chemical-injection, fire service, light industrial, and 5-units-and-up multifamily.²

We don't repair water heaters. We don't unclog drains. We don't do residential service calls. What we do is keep a four-drawer steel cabinet of USC FCCCHR-listed rebuild kits in stock, run a thirty-six-week recertification calendar that lines up with each premises type's hazard class, and file annual Milwaukee Water Works test reports on the same day the test is performed — never in batch, never late, never on a postcard ten months overdue.
