Always open
for the right
journeyman.

We grow slowly and on purpose. The bench is hard to break into because nobody leaves; openings emerge when an apprentice graduates, a tester takes a long-form sabbatical, or the account count grows past what three trucks can cover.

What we offer

  • Compensation matches the work

$78,000–$96,000 base for a journeyman tester depending on tenure and credentials, plus the standard fringe (health, dental, vision, ASSE annual dues, gauge cal). Truck and tools provided; uniforms washed.

  • A short list of customers and the relationships that come with them

Most accounts are multi-year. You'll know the building's chemistry and the property manager's name within two years.

  • A practice that doesn't pretend to be something it isn't

We do not have a sales department. We do not run radio ads. We do not have a customer-acquisition target. We earn renewals each year by being good at the work.

  • An owner path

All three current owners worked here as testers before becoming partners. The path is documented and the schedule is talked about openly.

What we don't offer

  • Remote work

Testers are in the truck. Office work is in Suite 110.

  • Sales commissions

No bonus structure tied to upselling. Customers get the assembly they need, not the assembly that pays best.

  • Out-of-state assignments

We work in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Waukesha counties. Nothing else.

  • Side gigs through the company

If you want to do residential plumbing on weekends, that's fine on your own time — just not under WPCC's license. We are a single-scope shop.

Apprenticeship

We accept paid apprenticeships from MATC's plumbing program. Two on the roster currently (Donnelly Yr 3, Sanchez Yr 2). The program runs four years; the apprentice rotates through testing, repair, install, and survey work, and is encouraged to take the ASSE 5110 in Year 4. We pay the test fee on the first attempt. If you're an MATC apprentice and you're interested, write us a paragraph at careers@wpccrossconnect.example with your class year and three sentences about why backflow.

Application

For the open journeyman role: full posting here. Cover letter and résumé to careers@wpccrossconnect.example. We respond within five business days. If you're a current WI journeyman and want to chat without applying, write the same address and say so — we have casual coffee conversations on Wednesday mornings.
