Type

Display set in Fraunces by Phaedra Charles and Flavia Zimbardi at Undercase Type — a variable-axis old-style serif with optical-size, softness, and wonky-character axes. Italic forms used for emphasis; SOFT axis open at display sizes to make the headlines feel like they were inked rather than printed. Specimen.

Body set in Hanken Grotesk by Alfredo Marco Pradil — a variable grotesque with a comfortable x-height for long reading at small sizes. Specimen.

Code, data, and labels set in IBM Plex Mono by Mike Abbink at IBM, with stylistic set 01 enabled for the rounded zero and dotted i. Specimen.

Palette

Drawn from the visible color palette of Walker's Point in late March: the yellow of Cream-City brick (#E9DFC2 paper, #F0E8D2 flag), the serpentine indigo of the Milwaukee River under cloud cover (#1B2A4A), the brewery-brick of Lakefront's facade (#B14A2C), the zinc-grey of the Sixth Street Bridge (#6A7484), the mossy edge of the Hank Aaron Trail at the water's edge (#4F6A5A), and a warning-amber for compliance flags (#C58B2C). Each color is named in --vars at the top of styles.css.

Imagery

The single photographic image on the site (the Walker's Point warehouse on the About page) is a Lorem-Picsum placeholder seeded with the company name for stability. Every other visual element is inline SVG, hand-coded in a small editor and shaped to match the assembly schematics in the USC FCCCHR Manual and the Caleffi technical catalog.

Code

The site is plain HTML5 with a single shared CSS file. No JavaScript runs in production. Each page is hand-authored; the masthead and footer share a stamped layout, but every body is unique. The site does not minify, bundle, or transform during deploy.

Hosting

The site is served from Cloudflare Workers Static Assets. The custom subdomain is provisioned automatically by Wrangler's custom_domain: true route entry; TLS is issued by Cloudflare's edge CA. Static assets are cached at edge with a one-hour HTML cache and one-year immutable cache on CSS and fonts.

Schematics

The Plate 01–08 backflow-assembly schematics are drawn directly into SVG. They are not photographic; they are not vectorized scans; they are line-by-line reproductions of the assemblies as we encounter them in the field. The check-valve seat geometry, the relief-vent profile, and the test-cock placement are accurate to manufacturer specifications.

The site is built to WCAG 2.2 AA contrast on all body text. All interactive elements are real <button> or <a>. Focus rings are visible. The skip-to-content link is the first focusable element. The marquee on the home page respects prefers-reduced-motion. Forms have visible labels, autocomplete attributes, and described errors.
